Reopening GUSD


UPDATED: STUDENT TESTING PROTOCOLS

Effective January 7, 2022, FDA-approved home test kit results are accepted as valid evidence for the purpose of returning to in-person learning, accompanied by a signed self-attestation form.

Regardless of vaccination status, anytime a student receives a positive test, they must isolate at home for at least five days after the first symptoms started (or date positive test collectedand until symptoms improve, and until fever-free for at least 24 hours, and has a negative test on or after day five of quarantine. 

If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please contact their school site immediately.




Safety Measures on Campus

The Reopening Planning Committee and district staff are taking many steps to prepare for the eventual reopening of schools and for submission of GUSD’s COVID-19 Safety Plan. These efforts are aligned with the most recent guidance from California’s Public Health Department.

Good evening GUSD staff and families:

Recently, the federal government announced that beginning January 19, Americans would be able to order up to four free COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits to be mailed directly to them at the end of this month.  

Today, the website for ordering these kits was released to the public and we are sharing the link with you so that you can place your order as soon as possible: https://www.covidtests.gov/.

Access to COVID-19 testing has been impacted by the recent surge of the virus, so I encourage you to order today.  The process is simple and takes just a few moments.
